Let’s say you find yourself needing to send an updated invoice that includes a late fee for your client because they didn’t pay on time. This should include a copy of the original invoice, as well as an updated invoice showing the newly added late fees. Use an invoice due date calculator to ensure that you list the correct due date on the invoice to avoid any miscommunication.Īfter a client’s payment becomes past due, you will need to send follow-up communication informing them of their new payment terms. ![]() Even something as simple as a brief line that says, “You will be charged a 1.5% late fee for overdue payments,” can help ensure prompt payment. Including a reminder of the late fee terms on your initial invoice can also be helpful. Adding this information to your contract and invoice terms and conditions will help you avoid disputes later on. You should set expectations when you first start working with a client by making them aware of your payment terms and late fee policy. Good communication is key to successfully charging late fees on invoices. How To Charge Late Fees On InvoicesĬollecting unpaid invoices can be a major pain, so the way you go about charging and communicating late fees on invoices can make a big difference in ensuring timely payments and maintaining a healthy business partnership without adding tension. If they fail to make their payment within 30 days - even if they make it on day 31 - they’ll be charged a late fee. If payment comes after the due date, it is considered late, and the extra fee applies.įor example, with Net 30 payment terms, a client will have 30 days from when the invoice was issued or received to pay their balance in full. A professional invoice will list a payment due date and payment terms so the customer knows when they need to submit payment. Late fees are commonly included on professional invoices. What Are Late Fees?īefore working out how to charge late fees on invoices, it’s imperative to understand what encompasses late fees.Ī late fee is an additional charge made to clients when they don’t submit on-time payment for an invoice. Charging late fees can help limit potential cash flow issues - but you need to go about it the right way. To prevent having to do so, many businesses add late fees on invoices to encourage their clients to submit payment on time. ![]() ![]() If you find your business in this situation, you don’t want to waste too much time chasing down clients for payment. When a client doesn’t submit payment by their invoice due date, it can create serious cash flow problems for your business. All too often, businesses struggle with slow-paying customers.

Convert to curves produces hilariously unusable results and things like Offset Path simply don't exist. Furthermore, many tools are very poorly implemented. These are tools which are actually provided by many free editors. With the exception of skew, vectors cannot be distorted in any way (including perspective) and it even lacks a knife tool. ![]() So we're left with an app which lacks some of the most fundamental vector editing tools. I wouldn't wish to speculate if this software will even be supported in a few years. The developers have moved on to other projects, and it seems to me that for all intents and purposes, development on this software has been abandoned. The few updates which have come down the line have focused on things like the app icon. It's been two years now and not a single thing on that list has been implemented. Back when I first purchased this app the developers were promising a roadmap of future improvements which would bring it closer to some of the industry-standard vector apps out there. Not really a finished app I have been trying to integrate Affinity Designer into a professional workflow for a number of years now but I've come to the conclusion that it's just too painful and there is nothing to indicate that this will improve. You can still open them but all the layers groups will be merged into a single giant group making you spend some time rearranging things. Another thing that you may feel limited is that you see templates for Illustrator everywhere but not for Designer. For that, I have to use Inkspace but everything else: Affnity Designer. The only thing I cannot do in Affinity Designer so far is to get a PNG and trace it into a vector. You have it ready to use and installed properly. The controls are very intuitive and easy to use, the results are way too good and so far, after all these years there's nothing I regret from using Affinity Designer If you buy a set of tools on the Serif store, you do not have to download them and install them on a certain folder, you just go into the panel, click, that's it. The real one, however, now resides broken and sore in a hangar at Wallsend in Newcastle after being trashed by a Hokusai inspired ‘Great Wave off Kanagawa’ earlier this year on its way back to Tokyo from the deepest place in the world. There is a great deal of personal satisfaction seeing something I designed and built myself that I have used so much in recent years being featured in this type of film. Speaking of that lander –the ‘hadal-Lander’ – it also got featured in this episode, or a least a full-size replica of it was seen descending into the Mariana Trench. The Hadal Snailfish going about their daily business at 7200 metres deep. It was also great to hear Attenborough utter the name ‘Ethereal snailfish’ in a landmark documentary as it is a nickname coined by my colleagues after much discussion in the days following the discovery. I took special pleasure in reminiscing about the time I was sitting somewhere over the Mariana Trench in 2014 and the technician behind me was watching back some footage from that mornings lander deployment and tapped me on the shoulder and said “Hey Al, what’s that?” to which I replied “that my friend is now officially the deepest fish ever seen alive” (until we filmed it even deeper two days later). ![]() It was also fantastic to see the hadal zone (depths exceeding 6000m) included alongside the usual mainstream deep-sea topics. High Definition footage of the methane escaping from the seafloor to the unrestrained violence of underwater volcanism is always fascinating, and then tied together with the hydrothermal vents and their endemic fauna is a necessary must in a film like this. The geological aspect of the episode was also very impressive. Although deep-sea biology has progressed massively, even since Blue Planet I, it is still notoriously difficult to really capture the essence of a lot of these animals alive and it takes a landmark documentary like this to make that happen. Watching the Synaphobranchid convulsing with toxic shock having found itself too close to the brine pool was fascinating, and marvelling at the small crustacean ‘born’ into a sponge prison was an incredible piece of filmmaking. The true value of this episode is simply bringing these organisms to life, in particular the myctophids and the cock-eyed squid amongst others. It was also great to see Osedax getting a mention, although admittedly under their pseudonym ‘zombie worms’. The advances made in underwater lowlight filming made the bioluminescence all the more spectacular, and one would have to be numb to not find themselves in awe when watching six-gilled sharks feast on a dead whale carcass. It is a beautiful work of art, visually stunning, and also of course very entertaining which ultimately is what is was made for. The second instalment of the BBCs long-awaited Blue Planet II series, The Deep, is a true spectacle, of course it is, it was always going to be. ![]() Related Reading: Watch 16 Minutes of Dying Light 2 Gameplay Played by MP1st (Raw Footage). One of the questions asked was Dying Light 2 crossplay, which the developer confirmed won’t be available. Find the Right Craft Glue and PVA Glue for Your Project I'm now going to show you how you can monitor each of these areas using PRTG, starting with how to monitor content and user experience. The basic network services include having enough bandwidth, that DNS is working, that certain ports are reachable, and that devices such as proxies or load balancers are functioning correctly. The server health includes not only the hardware, but also the operating system and application-level services that are running on that server. I've divided these into two sections: the health of the server, and the basic network-level services. Underneath this services level come the hardware devices such as web, application and database servers, and network devices such as switches and firewalls. This set of functions is partially at the user experience level, because the user sees the results, and partially at the system level, because they're part of fundamental business processes. In addition to serving up the content of the web site, web servers also need to perform additional supporting functions such as performing user authentication, providing security features such as certificates and encryption, forwarding to other URLs, reporting HTTP status codes, and logging web server activity. Since content can be static or dynamic, we should be able monitor both. In the user experience level, we should monitor the quality of user experience, which includes both the content the user receives, and the response times for loading the content. We can differentiate between two main categories of web server monitoring: the user experience level, and the system or IT level. ![]() Let's look at the different areas of web server monitoring that need to be considered. The most important question to start with, is: What, exactly, should I monitor? What components and services are most important? Your webservers depend not only on the underlying hardware - they're also dependent on applications and network services such as DNS or AD. As such, it is essential to ensure that your webservers are performing correctly, to avoid failures and to avoid business losses. Web servers are a critical part of every business: as online shops, for customer communication, partner portals, or as part of your corporate marketing strategy. In this video, I'm going to discuss the different aspects of web server monitoring, and how you can perform these using PRTG.
